After releasing a slew of EVs that most people referred to as generic “melted jellybeans“, Mercedes admitted their mistake, and went back to the drawing board.

The new Mercedes‑Benz Vision Iconic concept melds the roaring 1920s coupe elegance with tomorrow’s electric technology.

A long hood, swept-back cabin, and vintage cues have almost a sinister appearance, with the Mercedes Benz star serving as the headlamp shape.

This style merges with wafer-thin solar modules across its entire body, which generate additional range for the car.

The large, upright illuminated grille doesn’t have the same aerodynamic properties as before, but positions the vehicle in an entirely different way.

Inside, velvet upholstery, brass accents, and a glass-encased dashboard evoke luxury designed for a quiet, autonomous age.

Unlike their recent Hyperscreen, this feels like a return to grace and elegance, albeit in dramatic luxury fashion.

While still just a concept, the Vision Iconic is a strong statement for heritage and change, and shows that the storied German automaker is still able to produce designs that feel legendary and memorable.

We appreciate the way the company is pivoting on design and personality, while doubling down on clean, EV technology, which most definitely is the future.
